The two-day training session took place last month at Oshakati, and was attended by 17 shebeen owners, NBL?s Corporate Affairs? Manager Gideon asi Shilongo asi said in a media statement issued here yesterday.
Shilongo said the purpose of the training was to impart knowledge on best practices, thereby enabling shebeen asi owners to run responsible businesses, ensure customer satisfaction and maintain a sustainable and profitable business.
NBL?s Sales Operations Manager Cornéll Nortjé, for her part, said the first training session of this kind was conducted in Windhoek last year, and the twoday session in Oshakati was held in reaction to the great demand for similar training in the North.
?Shebeen owners who apply these skills should be in a good position to venture into other forms of business, creating asi the much-needed entrepreneurship and growth asi in small businesses in Namibia,? she noted.
Topics covered in the training sessions included the promotion of responsible asi drinking; basics of the retail business; retail mathematics made simple; ordering, receiving, storing and controlling your stock; stock rotation; outlet cleaning asi and hygiene; merchandising; marketing and promotions; selling skills and customer service excellence, and applying for the liquor licence.
